Job Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups (includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal). Work and/or performance shall conform to written established policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: 1 year of Pharmacy experience
- New Jersey Pharmacy Technician Registration or obtained within six months of start date as a Pharmacy Technician
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
- Must meet requirements of the ADA
Preferred:
- Associates degree preferred.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Per Diem, Hourly
- On-site at RWJBH Infusion & Specialty Pharmacy – South Plainfield, NJ
Essential Functions:
- Willingness and flexible to work alternating work schedules on short notice. Will support management and do what is asked.
- Understands and adheres to the company policy and requirements.
- Understands and participates on different committees or plans
- Willing to be cross trained to work or assist in other areas. Helps co-workers when appropriate.
- Pull and count medications accurately. Compound non- sterile medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Order medications and supplies using correct account.
- Order medications and supplies in a timely manner, making sure pharmacy is properly stocked
- Complete all QA logs with accuracy and on time (refrigerator daily temp, maintenance of pill counter, etc).
- Maintain an accurate record of non- Cardinal items
- Keep shelves, counters, filling area neat and clean.
- Assist with ACD System Calls.
- Assist with delivery tickets and refill calls.
- Return medications and supplies to proper areas.
- Review and resolve discrepancies in the Cardinal Inventory Management.
- Return unwanted medications to vendors in timely fashion.
- Responsible for weekly refill compliance calls.
- Responsible for patient pick-up orders.
- Enter inventory daily.
- Put medication orders away, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates.
