Job Overview:
A Vascular Technician is responsible for performing non-invasive vascular ultrasound examinations and physiological testing to evaluate patient circulatory systems, including operating diagnostic equipment and analyzing blood flow patterns.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of formal Ultrasound Training Program with previous experience in a Vascular Laboratory
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) status required
- A technologist may be hired as registry eligible; in such cases the candidate must sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire and pass the exam within the first year of hire or be terminated
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
- Completion of all mandatory compliance training

Essential Functions:
- Perform all necessary test protocols on patients in the lab, at bedside, in the Emergency Room, Recovery Room or in the Operating Room as deemed necessary by physician
- Provide a preliminary report for all patients
- Contact attending/referring physician if a critical finding is obtained
- Performs ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm compression under the direct supervision of vascular surgeon
- Assists vascular surgeon in ultrasound guided pseudo-aneurysm injections
- Maintains Vascular Laboratory standards as set by Inter-societal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL)
- Other required responsibilities in order to maintain the standard of excellence of the Vascular Lab
- Is knowledgeable of, adheres to and promotes safe practices (such as LeapFrog, Never Events, National Patient Safety Goals)
