The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The EKG Technician performs non-invasive cardiac testing inclusive of ECG, Holter monitoring and assistance with stress testing; provides physicians with data for use in diagnosing cardiac abnormalities; participates in unit quality improvement. Uses an understanding of principles of growth and development to determine each patient’s age specific needs and provides age specific treatment.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Six month probationary training period under the guidance of a qualified preceptor
  • BLS Certification through American Hearth Association
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • Experience in an acute care setting

Scheduling Requirements

  • PT
  • Day Shift
  • Opportunity for on-call shifts
  • Winter and summer holidays required
  • Weekends required

Essential Functions:

  • Assists physicians with on-site and remote editing of EKGs as needed
  • Charging: demonstrates competency by accurately charging patient for procedures performed
  • Communicates Reading Panel schedule to offices; notifies physicians of as needed
  • Communication: demonstrates competency by transmitting pertinent patient information to appropriate individual (i.e., MD, supervisor, nurse, discharge planner, etc.)
  • Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines
  • Critical Tests and Results: demonstrates competency by communicating results to RN and Physician
