SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION
The Histotechnology Scientist performs advanced histology procedures and specialized testing to support diagnostic accuracy and ensures quality control and compliance with laboratory standards,
The role contributes to complex diagnostic workflows through advanced staining techniques, method development, and technical oversight of histology processes,
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs advanced staining including immunohistochemistry,

Prepares complex tissue specimens for analysis,
3,
Develops and validates laboratory procedures,
4,
Monitors and ensures quality control standards,
5,
Troubleshoots technical issues in tissue preparation,
6,
Maintains specialized laboratory equipment,
7,
Reviews and documents laboratory results,
8,
Trains and mentors new staff and students,
9,
Other duties and/or projects as assigned,
10,
Adheres to RWJBH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior,
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in histology, medical laboratory science, or a related field preferred
Certification as Histotechnologist, HTL, by ASCP or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain within one year of hire preferred,
At least one year of experience is preferred in performing advanced histology techniques and specialized testing,
SPECIAL SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of histology techniques and special stains,
Advanced skill in troubleshooting and quality control,
Intermediate knowledge of regulatory standards,
Advanced ability to analyze technical data,
Intermediate leadership and training skills,
Effective communication skills for collaboration,
