Nursing Supervisor (RN) – Children's Specialized Hospital

In this leadership role, you'll provide administrative and clinical oversight during off-shift hours, supporting nursing teams, patients, and families while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and clinical excellence. As a Nursing Supervisor, you'll play a vital role in maintaining safe operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring every patient receives compassionate, high-quality care. As a Nursing Supervisor (RN), a typical day may include:

  • Providing administrative and clinical leadership throughout the Children's Hospital during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure safe, efficient patient care
  • Serving as the in-house nursing administrator, supporting frontline staff and making timely decisions to address operational and clinical needs
  • Collaborating with nursing leadership to coordinate staffing, allocate resources, and ensure appropriate coverage across patient care areas
  • Responding proactively to clinical situations, patient concerns, family needs, and hospital emergencies with confidence and sound clinical judgment
  • Supporting bedside nurses with complex patient care situations while promoting evidence-based practice and excellent clinical outcomes
  • Partnering with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to facilitate seamless communication and continuity of care
  • Coaching, mentoring, and encouraging professional growth while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and lifelong learning
  • Promoting a Just Culture environment where teamwork, transparency, and continuous improvement are valued
  • Monitoring the effective use of staffing, equipment, and hospital resources to maintain high-quality, cost-effective patient care
  • Rounding regularly throughout the hospital to support staff, address operational concerns, and ensure a positive experience for patients and families

To be considered for this Nursing Supervisor opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and current American Heart Association BLS certification. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing are required, while a Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of pediatric nursing experience, with previous nursing leadership experience strongly preferred. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required for inpatient units (or must be obtained within one year of hire if not already certified). Specialty nursing certification is welcomed and reflects our commitment to professional excellence.
