Job Overview:
The Greenhouse Lead will manage the daily activities in Community Medical Center s newly constructed Sadie Vickers CommUnity Garden hydroponic greenhouse located in South Toms River in accordance with the RWJBH Community Health Project.
This position will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working and growing environment in the Greenhouse while meeting produce production goals set by the department.
We are seeking an individual with strong hydroponic growing experience who is passionate about making healthy food accessible for the communities we serve.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma
- Demonstrated experience in hydroponic greenhouse operations
Preferred:
- Controlled Environment Agriculture Certificate and/or Hydroponic Growing Certificate
Essential Functions:
- Overseeing Community Medical Center s hydroponic greenhouse in partnership with Sadie Vickers Resource Center
- Crop production including: seeding, transplanting, nutrient management and harvesting
- Cleaning and sanitizing hydroponic growing system and floors
- Packaging and labeling produce for donation/distribution
- Inventory management for all greenhouse supplies and materials
- Records and analyzes data points for real-time monitoring and evaluation
- Liaises with technical assistance providers
- Leads with school and community group Greenhouse field trips
- Works with Community Health team members for program implementation including Registered Dietitians, Social Workers, SNAP Navigators, Community Health Workers, etc
- Manages program expenses in accordance with grant funding
- Engages grant funders and other community stakeholders and helps procure and leverage key partnerships that broaden community impact
