Phlebotomist

As a Phlebotomist, a typical day might include the following:

• Collecting venous and capillary blood specimens from patients of all ages, including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
• Maintaining positive patient identification by verifying patient information, matching physician orders, and ensuring accurate bedside specimen labeling.
• Verifying laboratory orders and accurately entering patient, physician, and test information into the Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Performing specimen accessioning, labeling, and clerical responsibilities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Setting up blood cultures and other microbiology cultures while ensuring proper specimen handling and transport.
• Delivering specimens to the laboratory promptly to support timely testing and accurate results.
• Assisting with laboratory operations by preparing specimens, centrifuging samples, and supporting chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology departments as needed.
• Participating in the training and mentoring of new employees and students while promoting a collaborative team environment.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Certificate from a nationally recognized program preferred.
• Six (6) months of previous phlebotomy experience are required.
• Must be able to work the 430am  - 1pm shift.
• Ability to perform venous and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages.
• Strong knowledge of patient identification procedures, specimen labeling, and laboratory safety standards.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
