Per Diem Respiratory Therapist – RWJBarnabas Health
A typical day for a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist may include:
- Performing basic and advanced respiratory therapy procedures within the scope of respiratory patient care services.
- Assessing patients and providing respiratory treatments based on physician orders and established clinical protocols.
- Transcribing and implementing physician orders accurately and efficiently.
- Administering oxygen therapy and monitoring patient response.
- Utilizing advanced assessment skills to identify changes in patient condition and adjust care as appropriate.
- Managing and monitoring patients requiring ventilator support.
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Documenting patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

To be considered for this Per Diem Respiratory Therapist opportunity:
- Graduate of an NBRC-approved School of Respiratory Care.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current New Jersey State Respiratory Care License.
- Successful completion of all required orientation and onboarding programs.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain per organizational requirements).
