Job Overview:
RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Assistant Director of Patient Care for the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the New Brunswick campus.
The Assistant Director of Patient Care (equivalent to Assistant Nurse Manager) plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Patient Care in overseeing the delivery of high-quality, patient centered nursing services within a designated unit or department,
This position combines clinical expertise, leadership, and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient operations, staff development, and compliance with regulatory standards,
The Assistant Director fosters a collaborative environment, promotes patient safety, and drives quality improvement initiatives while assisting in the management of daily operations and long-term strategic goals,
The Assistant Director of Patient Care is a leadership role responsible for supporting the management and coordination of nursing operations within a specific unit or department,
Thisposition works closely with the Director of Patient Care to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care, staff engagement, and operational efficiency,
The Assistant Director serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes, while also assisting with administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and compliance,
Qualifications:
Required:
- BSN required
- At least 3-5 years leadership/charge/preceptor experience as a Registered Nurse
- Oncology Nurse experience required
- Chemotherapy certification required
Preferred:
- MSN highly preferred
- Previous experience as a nursing director is preferred
- National Board Certification - OCN preferred
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- BLS, ACLS and/or PALS certification
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift, 40 hours per week
- Full-Time
- On Call Leadership Coverage
Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership and direction in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the unit/organization.
- Effectively communicates information to staff, utilizes resources and manages staff and services.
- Assists the Director with the daily operations of the unit and delegated responsibilities.
- Will be assigned 50 percent of patient care responsibilities.
- Collaboratively prepares and maintains staff schedule and payroll.
- Effectively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and drives through-out staff accountability.
