Our Residential Specialists work collaboratively to promote optimal development, teach vital independence skills, and prevent psychological trauma in hospitalized adolescents and youth. By providing comprehensive programming and evidence-based interventions, our specialists proactively engage our most vulnerable behavioral health patients to provide structure, safety, connection, and support. We view our specialists as a critical component of the multidisciplinary care plan and recognize the incredibly positive impact they have on the healing journey and outcomes of our patients and their families. We hope you are excited by the opportunity to deliver trauma-informed care in a way that redefines the patient experience through teamwork, compassion, and excellence!

As a Residential Specialist within our inpatient program system, a typical day might include the following:

  • Leading daily patient community meetings and facilitating psycho-educational or independent life skills groups to support therapeutic milestone progression.

  • Assisting with the implementation of medical and clinical treatment plans as delegated by the program leadership team.

  • Exercising critical clinical judgment and discretion regarding the deployment of emergency psychiatric or medical interventions.

  • Managing shift coordination, delegating tasks, and ensuring strict compliance with unit scheduling protocols.

  • Utilizing verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to manage high-acuity behavioral outbursts or self-harming risks.

  • Maintaining unit safety by screening visitors, tracking logs, conducting regular environment checks, and facilitating safe restraint interventions when necessary.

  • Documenting accurate, detailed records of crisis management incidents, clinical precipitants, and patient progress in the system.

  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team during regular staff meetings to offer strategic suggestions concerning patient milestone development.

This Role Might Be For You If:

  • You are deeply passionate about creating and delivering a differentiated healthcare experience for adolescents navigating severe trauma and emotional disturbances.

  • You excel under pressure, maintain an exceptional professional demeanor, and stay current on acute crisis management and unit safety techniques.

  • You set a high bar for yourself and others to maintain a secure, welcoming, and therapeutic environment for your patients.

  • You recognize and respect the direct impact you have on a young patient's daily recovery journey during intensive hospitalization.

  • You believe that true behavioral healing is optimized and strengthened through clinical vigilance, empathy, and patience.

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited institution is required. A degree in psychology, sociology, or a related behavioral health field is preferred.

  • Experience: Proven foundational experience in crisis management, acute behavior mitigation, or youth residential care is required.

  • Licensure: Must possess and maintain a valid, unencumbered Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

  • Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain all mandatory facility safety, de-escalation, and orientation credentials upon hire.
