Pharmacy Technician – RWJBarnabas Health
At RWJBarnabas Health, the Pharmacy Technician plays an essential role in supporting safe, efficient medication management and exceptional patient care. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, they perform a variety of technical and clerical responsibilities related to the preparation, distribution, and management of medications. This role supports patients across all age groups while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
A typical day for a Pharmacy Technician may include:
- Assists the Registered Pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Works with medication management technology including automated dispensing cabinets, inventory carousels, repackaging software, and the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prepares and distributes medications according to established procedures, including training in aseptic technique for IV solutions
- Supports safe and effective medication management for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
- Promotes patient safety by maintaining formulary compliance, supporting cost-effective medication practices, and contributing to positive patient outcomes
- Identifies and reports hazardous conditions, safety concerns, medication errors, or other issues to appropriate personnel
- Maintains compliance with all hospital policies, pharmacy procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Assists with inventory management, medication storage, and maintaining an organized pharmacy work environment
- Contributes to a collaborative, professional work environment that supports the hospital's mission and patient care goals
- Completes additional departmental responsibilities and special projects as assigned

To be considered for this Pharmacy Technician opportunity:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current New Jersey Board of Pharmacy registration in good standing required
- Proficiency in regulatory requirements and compliance with established hospital policies required
- PTCB certification preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred
