Are you a detail-oriented EEG Technician who is passionate about delivering compassionate patient care through accurate diagnostic testing? At RWJBarnabas Health, Neurodiagnostic Technicians play an important role in supporting physicians with high-quality EEG studies that assist with neurological evaluation and clinical decision-making. Working with patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics, you'll perform a variety of EEG procedures while ensuring patient comfort, safety, accurate documentation, and reliable diagnostic recordings. As a Neurodiagnostic Technician, a typical day might include the following:

  • Performing routine, sleep, portable, neonatal, death determination, and video-EEG/Long Term Epilepsy Monitoring studies as assigned.
  • Working with a diverse patient population ranging from neonates through geriatrics while adapting procedures to individual patient needs.
  • Preparing patients for EEG procedures, explaining the testing process, providing appropriate education, and ensuring maximum patient comfort and acceptance of the procedure.
  • Scheduling and performing EEG studies in accordance with department policies, procedures, and established standards.
  • Preparing EEG graphs and recordings for physician interpretation and maintaining required records, reports, and log books.
  • Ensuring EEG equipment is functioning properly, performing routine cleaning after each use, and maintaining an appropriate inventory of patient supplies.
  • Maintaining department medical records and completing required billing and financial information on a daily basis.
  • Using computer systems proficiently to support departmental operations, documentation, scheduling, and recordkeeping.
  • Monitoring the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of patient care and department areas and promptly reporting hazardous conditions, medical errors, and other identified safety concerns.
  • Collaborating professionally with patients and their families, physicians and office staff, hospital associates, registration personnel, and departmental staff.
  • Performing other departmental duties as assigned while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, accountability, and compliance with established procedures.

To Be Considered for This Opportunity, You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited/formal EEG program or qualifying on-the-job EEG training required.
  • Neuroanatomy coursework is a plus.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • EEG certification/registration or eligibility for certification/registration required.
  • One to three years of previous experience in a hospital-related environment required.
