Anesthesia Technician – RWJBarnabas Health

As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play an essential role in preparing anesthesia equipment, supporting anesthesia providers throughout surgical procedures, and helping maintain a safe, efficient, and organized perioperative environment. A typical day for an Anesthesia Technician may include:

  • Preparing, inspecting, and calibrating anesthesia machines and related equipment to ensure readiness for surgical procedures
  • Providing technical support to anesthesiologists and CRNAs before, during, and after procedures to promote safe and efficient anesthesia care
  • Assisting anesthesia providers during patient induction, airway management, intubation, and other anesthesia-related procedures
  • Anticipating the needs of the anesthesia team during routine and complex surgical cases to support seamless patient care
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining anesthesia equipment, including anesthesia machines, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) probes, and other specialized devices, following infection prevention and organizational standards
  • Stocking anesthesia carts, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating the ordering of supplies to ensure equipment and materials are readily available
  • Collaborating with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative team members to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Supporting the education and development of students, new team members, and departmental learners through collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized surgical environment by following departmental policies, safety protocols, and quality standards

To be considered for this Anesthesia Technician opportunity, you are passionate about supporting safe, high-quality perioperative care through technical expertise, attention to detail, and collaborative teamwork. You have graduated from an accredited Anesthesia Technology program or possess an equivalent combination of education and at least two years of relevant experience. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Previous experience in anesthesia technology, surgical services, or a perioperative setting is preferred. Additional departmental training, competencies, or certifications may be required based on operational needs.
