Section II: Summary of Job Function

PA, works under the supervision of a licensed Radiologist to diagnose and treat injuries or disease. Duties include patient assessment; management and education; pharmacology and clinical decision making in radiology; contrast media; pathophysiology; radiographic and procedures such as; guided procedures using CT & Ultrasound.

Licensed by the state. Approved by the medical staff. Successful of all required orientation programs.

Work Environment and Hazards Hazards

Include risk of exposure to communicable disease and risk of physical injury from lifting patients and operation of equipment.

Special Physical Demands

Must meet requirements of the ADA (attached).

Work Contact Group All patient related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff.

Job Specific Requirements

Attend outpatient clinic and participates in initial evaluation and longitudinal care. All other duties as defined.

Communicates clearly and effectively with patients and colleagues. Behaves in a professional, cooperative, and positive manner.

Demonstrates appropriate level of medical knowledge, proficiency in obtaining history and physicals, developing diagnoses, prescribing appropriate treatment plans for the diagnoses, and executing proper treatment modalities and applies sound medical knowledge and makes appropriate decisions.

Ensures physician consultations and referrals are appropriate.

Initiate appropriate emergency care in the inpatient and outpatient setting until the arrival of the supervising physician.

Make assessment of emergency conditions and, in conjunction with attending physician, implement management.

Manage discharge of patients with appropriate disposition, follow-up planning, adjunctive therapy management and education. Also provide pre-and post-operative patient education to patients and their families. 

Must have the ability to relate and interpret medical data, identify normal and abnormal findings and initiate appropriate follow-up, to serve as a member of a team, provide direction and leadership to others, maintain records, and prepare reports, correspondence related to the work and maintain favorable public relations.

Prepare patients for IR procedures, including education, positioning, skim preparation and administration of local anesthetic, and preparation of equipment.

Records are complete, legible, and well organized.

Conducts procedures including but not limited to guided procedures using CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
