Respiratory Equipment Technician
A typical day for a Respiratory Equipment Technician may include:
- Supplying oxygen and other compressed gas cylinders throughout the Medical Center.
- Processing, cleaning, and preparing respiratory equipment for safe utilization.
- Performing scheduled equipment calibrations, electrical safety tests (ESTs), and routine maintenance.
- Troubleshooting ventilators and other respiratory equipment and performing minor repairs when needed.
- Replenishing respiratory supplies in designated areas and documenting equipment or supply concerns.
- Responding promptly to oxygen refill requests for code carts.
- Stocking shelves, closets, and satellite storage areas to ensure respiratory supplies are readily available.
- Processing contaminated equipment for future use in accordance with safety and infection-control procedures.
- Providing prompt, courteous, and compassionate service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
- Maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient rights at all times.
- Taking responsibility for section operations in the absence of the manager.

- Ability to perform the physical and technical responsibilities associated with processing, maintaining, stocking, and troubleshooting respiratory equipment.
