At RWJBarnabas Health, our Endoscopy Registered Nurses help create a safe, coordinated, and supportive experience for patients receiving procedural care. As a Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy Room at RWJUH Rahway Hospital, you'll combine clinical assessment, thoughtful decision-making, and compassionate communication to provide individualized nursing care centered on each patient's unique needs. Working alongside nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team, you'll promote safety, quality, and continuity while contributing to an environment where patients and families feel informed, respected, and supported throughout their experience.
As an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:
Providing individualized nursing care to patients within the Endoscopy department in accordance with the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act, professional nursing standards, and organizational policies
Performing nursing assessments and using clinical judgment to identify patient needs and develop an individualized plan of care
Implementing and evaluating nursing interventions while adjusting care based on each patient's condition, response, and evolving clinical needs
Promoting patient safety by identifying potential risks, recognizing changes in patient condition, and responding appropriately within established standards of practice
Communicating clearly and compassionately with patients and families to support understanding, comfort, and a positive care experience
Collaborating closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to promote coordinated and efficient patient care
Applying evidence-based nursing principles while integrating safety, quality, and the patient experience into clinical decision-making
Maintaining knowledge of the patient population served and adapting nursing care to meet individual clinical and developmental needs
Identifying and reporting safety concerns, including hazardous conditions and potential or actual medical errors, to support a culture of safety
Participating in performance improvement activities designed to strengthen clinical practices, patient outcomes, quality, and the overall care experience
Maintaining professional accountability by recognizing individual learning needs and pursuing continued clinical knowledge and professional development

To be considered for this Endoscopy Registered Nurse opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license and current American Heart Association CPR/BLS and ACLS/PALS certifications. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), completion of clinical experience through an NLN-accredited school of nursing, and national nursing certification are preferred. Additional clinical experience may be required based on the specific needs of the Endoscopy department. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical assessment, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and patient safety skills, along with a commitment to evidence-based nursing practice and continued professional development. This is an hourly day shift opportunity supporting the Endoscopy Room at RWJUH Rahway Hospital.
