Therapist II

As a Therapist II, you will play an essential role in delivering evidence-based behavioral health services, developing individualized treatment plans, and partnering with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to promoting resilience, recovery, and emotional well-being. 

A typical day as a Therapist II may look like:

  • Provide assessment, prevention/intervention, education, treatment and discharge services to adult psychiatric patients and their families
  • The clinician will also actively participate in Department specific and hospital wide activities to ensure regulatory compliance enhance program development and quality improvement
  • Provides individual, group and family therapy to psychiatric patients for purposes of crisis intervention, ongoing treatment, evaluation of clinical progress and determination of future course of treatment
  • Enhances professional competence by regularly attending continuing education programs
  • Competes all necessary paperwork and keeps up to date records on all patients: This includes psychosocial assessments, outcome study, group, individual and family sessions, treatment plans, progress notes, telephone contacts, and discharge summaries
  • Works collaboratively with members of the treatment team; attends and participates in scheduled treatment rounds
  • Covers additional groups and/or patients when required by supervisor
  • Works with team members to monitor health care resources, and interacts with insurance companies and case managers while promoting quality patient care
  • Interacts with and coordinates efforts with other clinicians regarding treatment planning and conjointly providing, clinical services
  • Maintains regular contact with referral sources and provides timely and complete information regarding the patient s treatment progress and discharge plan
  • Facilitates referral of individuals to ancillary and/or alternative providers when appropriate
  • Actively markets Eating disorder Program to internal and external customers
  • Sends thank you letters to referral sources, participates in community outreach, professional associations, and training sessions
  • Provides mental health/eating disorder information to patients and their families, hospital staff, and the community at large
  • Applies the knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan
  • Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her assigned unit, i,
  • e,Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
  • Assesses data reflective of each patient s status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient s age requirements relative to his or her age specific health care needs
  • Abides by standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Performs all duties in a friendly and courteous manner offering assistance to physicians, patients, families, visitors and co-workers
  • Extends courtesy and consideration to others in all interpersonal relationships, including telephone contacts
  • Demonstrates the ability to respond to instruction from peers or superiors in order to complete department tasks
  • Demonstrates the ability to determine the proper time to discuss differences in work strategy
  • Performs other departmental duties as prescribed by supervisory personnel
  • Assists in the performances of non-technical tasks within the department
  • Demonstrates the awareness of safety, security, life safety, emergency preparedness and utility and equipment management policies competencies
  • Adheres to Standard Precautions and to Safety and Infection Control policies
  • Ensures that appropriate standards of practice follow corporate compliance guidelines, and that results of accreditation surveys and licensure reviews by NJSDOH and JCAHO are satisfactory
  • Acts in an ethical and legal manner, and assures that all actions are in the best interest of both patients and the hospital
  • Other Duties as assinged

To be considered for this Therapist II opportunity:

  • Masters degree from an accredited school of Social Work or Counseling degree from an accredited school, PhD from an accredited college or university
  • Licensure: NJ State licensure, LCSW, LPC is preferred, LSW, LAC is acceptable depending on experience
  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills
  • Two years or more years job related clinical experience
