The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Assists the Pathologist with frozen sections as needed
Files records and specimens
Prepares specimens for dispatch and referral
Assists with other duties in the Pathology department as necessary
Service Excellence
Prepares tissue specimens for pathologic examination by expertly embedding, sectioning, performing routine and special stains, immunohistochemistry and labeling of the specimens
Participates in safety activities and training sessions of the department,
Practices the precepts of Standard Precautions and hazardous Material programs,
Quality
Is directly involved with quality and efficiency issues,
Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures on the equipment used in Histology,
Assumes the responsibilities of the supervisor as requested,
Performs and documents quality control measures

Assists in developing new procedures and evaluating new instrumentation,
Optimizes and validates new antibodies/procedures as needed,
Attends continuing education programs and seminars,
Enters in the computer pathology procedures related to surgical specimens
Is involved in all aspects of Performance Improvement, including collection of data, generating ideas for performance improvement, and follow-up of process changes,
