Radiologic Technologist - RWJBarnabas Health
Radiologic Technologists play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Working closely with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, technologists perform diagnostic radiographic examinations, operate imaging equipment, evaluate image quality, and adhere to radiation safety standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, critical thinking, and a patient-centered approach to care.
A Typical Day for a Radiologic Technologist May Include:
- Reviewing provider orders and discussing imaging procedures with patients while answering questions related to diagnostic exams.
- Applying critical thinking skills to address patient concerns and escalating issues appropriately when needed.
- Following radiation safety and protection standards to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
- Producing high-quality diagnostic images using radiographic, portable, and fluoroscopic imaging equipment.
- Evaluating images for clarity, positioning, and diagnostic quality before submission for interpretation.
- Utilizing Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborating with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care and diagnostic accuracy.
- Operating fluoroscopic and portable imaging equipment in surgical and procedural settings, including the operating room.
- Participating in on-call rotations based on departmental and operational needs.
- Adhering to departmental protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards for all imaging procedures.

To Be Considered:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Current New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Radiologic Technologist License.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
- Successful completion of department-specific orientation and competency requirements.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and participation in call rotations as required.
