Community Liaison – RWJBarnabas Health

At RWJBarnabas Health, Community Liaisons play a vital role in strengthening relationships between the health system and the communities it serves. This position offers the opportunity to build meaningful partnerships with community leaders, organizations, residents, and diverse populations while advancing initiatives that promote health, wellness, inclusion, and access to care.

As a Community Liaison, you will serve as a key connector between RWJBarnabas Health, its hospitals and departments, and community partners. You will help identify community needs, develop collaborative partnerships, promote RWJBH programs and services, and support initiatives that align with the organization's population health and community health priorities. A typical day for a Community Liaison may include:

• Building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with community leaders, residents, nonprofit organizations, faith-based institutions, cultural organizations, civic groups, and other community partners

• Representing RWJBarnabas Health at community meetings, coalitions, public events, health fairs, and other external engagements

• Meeting with community stakeholders to understand local priorities, emerging needs, and opportunities for collaboration

• Identifying and developing partnerships with faith-based, cultural, civic, and community organizations to support initiatives that advance community health

• Serving as a connector between RWJBH hospitals, internal departments, and community organizations to strengthen communication, coordination, and collaboration

• Promoting awareness of RWJBH programs, services, health resources, and community initiatives among priority populations

• Assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of community health events, educational sessions, outreach campaigns, and partnership activities

• Collaborating with internal teams to ensure community engagement activities support hospital and systemwide strategic goals

• Supporting initiatives designed to improve access to health information, preventive care, wellness resources, and other health-related services

• Coordinating logistics, scheduling, materials, and community representation for RWJBH participation in external events and community activities

• Maintaining accurate records of community engagement activities, partnerships, contacts, events, and follow-up efforts

• Maintaining and updating partnership databases while tracking engagement activities and outcomes

• Gathering and sharing information about emerging community needs, trends, concerns, and opportunities with RWJBH leadership and internal teams

• Contributing to program reports, performance measures, continuous quality improvement activities, and other efforts related to community engagement

• Participating in organizational meetings, community initiatives, and other activities that support RWJBH's mission and community health priorities

To be considered for this Community Liaison opportunity:

• You have a bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Communications, Community Relations, or a related field

• You are able to consistently travel throughout the state of New Jersey to support community events, outreach activities, meetings, and initiatives as needed

• You have a current and valid Driver's License. 

• A master's degree is preferred

• You have at least three (3) years of experience in community engagement, outreach, partnership development, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, or the public sector

• You have demonstrated experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and populations

• You have strong relationship-building, communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

• You are able to effectively engage and collaborate with a wide range of community and organizational partners

• You demonstrate strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to connect community insights to organizational objectives

• You are highly organized with strong planning, time-management, coordination, and follow-through skills

• You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration platforms

• You are comfortable working in community settings and representing RWJBarnabas Health with professionalism and enthusiasm
