The Application Analyst I supports the design, build, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of assigned healthcare applications across RWJBarnabas Health.
Working under the guidance of senior analysts and leadership, the Application Analyst I assists with application build, workflow configuration, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, go-live activities, and operational support. This position provides an opportunity to develop application expertise while gaining hands-on experience with healthcare technology, system workflows, and application implementations.
Supporting application design and build activities for assigned workflows, configurations, screens, templates, and data fields
Participating in workflow review sessions with Operations and application team members to understand business needs
Following established application standards and best practices when completing system build
Participating in unit, application, integrated, upgrade, and enhancement testing
Executing test scripts and documenting results, issues, and troubleshooting outcomes
Providing basic application troubleshooting and escalating complex customer or build issues to senior analysts
Supporting application implementations, go-lives, post-go-live activities, and on-call coverage
Managing assigned incidents, requests, and enhancement tickets while providing timely customer updates
Documenting system modifications, workflow changes, decisions, risks, issues, and resolutions
Following established issue management, change control, and escalation processes
Assisting with future-state workflows, training curriculum reviews, change readiness documentation, and process improvement activities

You communicate effectively with customers, Operations, technical teams, and senior analysts
You are comfortable receiving guidance while developing greater independence and application expertise
Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience
Ability to perform assigned application work under the guidance of senior analysts and leadership
Basic knowledge of application support, system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, or related technology processes
Ability to participate in application testing and accurately document results
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet established deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability and willingness to learn new software, applications, systems, and workflows
Applicable application certification as required for the assigned application
Ability to maintain required certification through New Version Training (NVT), as applicable
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
0 to 2 years of application, system build, application support, healthcare IT, or related experience
Exposure to the assigned customer base, operational workflows, or application support processes
Experience with healthcare clinical or financial systems
Knowledge of current clinical or financial system workflows and processes
Experience with application testing, ticket management, go-live support, or change control
Experience working with Epic applications or Epic-related workflows
Clinical licensure when applicable to the assigned application
