The Inventory Management Assistant supports general laboratory operations by managing supply inventory ordering, receipt, labeling, processing, storage, and distribution of supplies and reagents across multiple laboratory disciplines, specifically working within Clinical Pathology. Reporting to the Supervisor or Director of the Lab, you will play an essential role in ensuring efficient stock inventory by monitoring inventory levels of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and reagents, executing fundamental clinical clerical functions, and partnering with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes. A typical day for a Inventory Management Assistant may include:

• Ordering supply and reagent inventory from vendors and suppliers, tracking logistics, and securing accurate shipment arrival times for the Clinical Pathology department.
• Providing comprehensive onsite inventory management services, including unpacking incoming shipments, verifying packing slips against orders, and stocking shelves safely.
• Conducting regular inventory counts, monitoring inventory levels of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and reagents, and maintaining detailed inventory records to share with supervisors and laboratory leadership.
• Performing strict quality checks on stored inventory and properly discarding items or reagents that are expired or defective.
• Identifying and promptly reporting discrepancies in inventory, investigating shipment delays, and communicating unresolved issues to laboratory leadership.
• Maintaining an organized, safe, and sanitary storage area, ensuring proper chemical and reagent storage conditions are met.
• Participating as an active member of the laboratory support team by handling additional operational duties and special projects as assigned.
• Complying with all legal regulations, privacy rights, and corporate codes of behavior while adhering to RWJBH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

To be considered for this Inventory Management Assistant opportunity, you will have:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–2 years of experience is preferred in laboratory support or inventory management roles.
• Demonstrated competence in organizing, multi-tasking, and prioritizing high-volume supply workloads for timely operational completion.
• Strong technical acumen with the ability to easily comprehend and execute complex operational safety instructions and vendor specifications.
• Excellent computer skills with a history of navigating inventory databases, sorting automated logs, or tracking shipments are preferred.
• Physical capability and comfort to work within an environment that involves handling clinical inventory, chemical supplies, and meeting active physical demands (such as lifting and unpacking shipments).
• Scheduling requirements: Full-Time (FT) Day Shift, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
• Holiday and weekend rotations as required by lab leadership.
