The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Summary: Counselor
Works collaboratively with the School Based Youth Services Program to provide programs and services that will enrich and enhance the lives of Barringer youth and which will result in a greater number of students completing their education.
A typical day as a Counselor may look like:
- Closely monitor students' grades, behavior and attendance by visiting and communicating with teachers and other school personnel.
- Coordinates weekly case review conference with multidisciplinary team members
- Develop and implement individual treatment plans and when appropriate, family treatment plans.
- Facilitate students/families in crisis intervention services, as needed.
- Maintains an ongoing caseload of students/families with documentation reflecting appropriate follow up, interventions and services.
- Monitor/evaluate student progress, follow up and revise treatment plans, as needed.
- Provide individual, group and family therapeutic services to students and families.
- Responsible for conducting biopsychosocial assessment for students
- Collaborate with school staff and community agencies for appropriate referrals and to ensure adequate provision of services
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of student mental health status
- Conduct outreach activities to engage students in School Based Youth Services activities
- Conducts mental health assessments, implements interventions and monitors progress
- Identify and provide supportive services that meet student needs.
- Performs other related duties as determined by the Program Director.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- New Jersey State Certification preferred
- Must meet requirements of ADA
