MRI Aide - RWJBarnabas Health
MRI Aides play a critical role in supporting the MRI team by ensuring patients are prepared, screened, transported, and assisted throughout their imaging experience. Working closely with MRI Technologists and Radiology staff, MRI Aides help maintain efficient department operations, promote patient safety, and contribute to a positive patient experience. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to compassionate patient care.
A Typical Day for an MRI Aide May Include:
- Greeting patients and verifying two patient identifiers prior to imaging procedures.
- Conducting verbal MRI safety screenings and reviewing MRI safety questionnaires with patients.
- Assisting patients with changing into appropriate attire before examinations.
- Helping MRI Technologists prepare exam rooms and imaging equipment to support efficient workflow.
- Setting up MRI coils and other required equipment to help expedite patient table time.
- Loading power injectors with contrast and saline in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Assisting with patient transfers to and from the MRI table using wheelchairs, stretchers, and other transfer equipment.
- Transporting patients safely to and from the MRI department.
- Stocking MRI rooms and maintaining adequate supplies for daily operations.
- Scanning patient documentation into PACS and ensuring accurate billing information is entered into IDX.
- Obtaining CDs, films, and other imaging records as requested.
- Supporting MRI Technologists and other Radiology team members with patient care and departmental needs.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

To Be Considered:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Ability to safely assist with patient transport and transfers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Ability to follow MRI safety protocols and departmental procedures.
- Availability to work Day Shift schedules.
- Ability to work a Per Diem schedule based on departmental needs.
