The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Identity & Access Management (IAM) solution Security Architect reports to the IAM director in a hands-on role focused on the security architecture in the IAM space supporting IAM program.
The Architect works directly with Lead Development, Engineering and Operational resources through collaboration and mentoring to shape the IAM capabilities for RWJBH.
The IAM Architect s role is a technical position which will support the development of security strategies and architecture vision as it relates to the organization s initiatives, specifically setting the direction for IAM architecture.
The IAM Architect will work with other Architects and Service Owners to provide a consensus-based enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable and synchronized with ever-changing business needs.
A typical day of an Architect looks like:
- Define the enterprise IAM architecture strategy
- Establish the long-term vision, principles, and target-state architecture for identity and access management
- Design IAM solutions across business and technology domains
- Create architecture for workforce, privileged, third-party, and application identities across on-premises and cloud environments
- Research and design IAM standards, patterns, and principles
- Define approved protocols, integration patterns, authentication methods, and access control design requirements
- Align IAM architecture with security, privacy, and compliance requirements
- Ensure IAM designs support regulatory obligations, internal control expectations, and enterprise risk management objectives
- Lead role and access governance model design
- Establish enterprise approaches for RBAC, ABAC, privileged access, segregation of duties, and certification models
- Evaluate and select IAM technologies
- Assess current and prospective IAM platforms, tools, and vendors for business fit, scalability, security, and interoperability
- Develop IAM roadmaps and transformation plans
- Create phased implementation strategies for modernization, consolidation, cloud identity adoption, and control maturity
- Review and approve solution designs for major initiatives
- Provide architecture oversight for identity-related projects, integrations, mergers, and application onboarding efforts
- Drive secure integration of IAM into enterprise architecture
- Ensure IAM capabilities are embedded into application development, infrastructure planning, and digital transformation initiatives
- Advise leadership on IAM risks, investments, and priorities
- Communicate architectural risks, strategic options, and capability gaps to senior IT and security leadership
- Promote architectural governance and continuous improvement
- Establish review processes, reference architectures, and design guardrails to sustain a consistent and scalable IAM program
- May perform other duties as assigned or directed by management

Education Required: Associate s degree (or equivalent experience) Additional Education Preferred: Master s or Bachelor s degree in IT or related field (or equivalent experience) Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of relevant IAM experience Experience Preferred: 8+ years of relevant IAM experience, SailPoint, Okta, Imprivata and CyberArk experience preferred
