A Special Procedures Tech Lead provides both expert technical skill and operational leadership within our advanced medical imaging environment. In the Special Procedure Tech Lead role, you will perform high-level diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures while overseeing the daily department workflow, ensuring equipment compliance, and mentoring clinical staff. You will act as a vital bridge between tech staff, radiologists, and nursing leadership to maintain the highest standards of safety and efficiency.. A typical day for a Special Procedure Tech Lead may include:

  • Works with IR schedulers to ensure patients are appropriately scheduled
  • Works and collaborates with IR Nurses and IR Attending in a professional manner
  • Attends daily huddles
  • Works with leadership in PI projects
  • Schedule daily assignments for staff and management of the patient flow
  • Assist management to ensure that the IR equipment is inspected and remains compliant
  • Order and maintain adequate storeroom supply levels
  • Perform quality control and check on equipment daily
  • Train new IR Technologists
  • Ensures patient comfort, physical and mental well being during the examination
  • Analyzes patient physical condition, age and suspected pathology for proper technique
  • Assists Radiologist in performing special radiographic procedures
  • Ensures that room is properly stocked with all needed supplies prior to the beginning of the procedure
  • Explains procedures, keeps patient informed of progress and assists patients in transferring onto/off examination table for procedures
  • Observes equipment for proper functioning and reports malfunctions to supervisor
  • Properly prepares room before patient enters and cleans it after patient exits
  • Properly uses the Radiology Information System to arrive, change if necessary and complete cases
  • Utilizes equipment appropriately for each type of examination
  • Verifies physician orders, documents completion on inpatient charts
  • Maintain clean examination rooms and work environment in all areas
  • Performs diversified duties required f or the completion of special procedure examinations
  • Employ professional judgment and discretion while performing all imaging procedures,
  • Demonstrates competency in the use and sequencing of the power injection
  • Report all equipment problems to the supervisor and enter work order as appropriate,
  • Use RadCode for interventional billing related to the section modality specific procedures

To be considered for this Special Procedure Tech Lead opportunity, you must:

  • Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • hold a current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • hold an active New Jersey Radiologic Technologist license (NJDEP)
  • Maintains required BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider through American Heart Association
