The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
The Unit Secretary provides clerical services to the Geriatric Unit. You will be assisting the nursing Directors and the staff nurses in collaborating with clerical functions, answering inquiries of a general nature by physicians, patients and families.
As Unit Secretary, a typical day might include the following:
- Conducting environmental rounds stock supply closet
- Answering and transferring inbound phone calls received
- Directing the flow of patient’s visitors and physicians
- Answering patient’s call bells
- Promoting patient flow efforts by actively participating in patient movement and escalating barriers to management
- Recording correct and appropriate medical information in the patient’s medical record
- Participating in staff meetings, patient rounding sessions and audits in order to address unit needs based on patient census and activity change

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Preferably with clerical experience in health care and medical terminology. Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel Outlook, proficient in computer skills. Familiarity with office equipment such as copiers and fax machines. Must demonstrate willingness to learn.
This is a Full-Time day position. The hours are 7am- 3:00pm. Rotating weekends and holidays.
