At RWJBarnabas Health, our Certified Nursing Assistants are an important part of the care team, providing hands-on support that helps pediatric patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for each day. As a Certified Nursing Assistant in Long-Term Care at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, you'll work alongside professional nursing staff to provide direct personal care and support to children with ongoing healthcare needs. Through attentive care, responsiveness, and meaningful interactions with patients and families, you'll help create a supportive environment centered on dignity, respect, comfort, and teamwork.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a typical day may include:

  • Providing direct personal care to pediatric patients as directed by the nurse and each patient's individualized plan of care

  • Supporting bedside care assignments and helping ensure patient needs are addressed safely and promptly

  • Responding to patient call lights throughout the unit in a timely and attentive manner

  • Observing patient needs and communicating relevant concerns or changes to the nursing team

  • Partnering with nurses and other care team members to support consistent, coordinated patient care

  • Recognizing and respecting the individual needs of patients and families while helping create a comfortable and culturally sensitive care environment

  • Supporting patients with daily care needs while promoting dignity, comfort, and safety

  • Restocking supplies at the bedside and helping ensure necessary patient care items are readily available

  • Replacing suction bottles and completing other designated unit support responsibilities

  • Helping maintain an organized, clean, and patient-ready unit environment

  • Assisting with laundry and other unit needs when requested

  • Interacting with patients, families, visitors, and hospital team members with a strong customer service focus

To be considered for this Certified Nursing Assistant opportunity, you must hold a current Certified Long-Term Care Facility Nursing Assistant certification and be listed on the New Jersey Nurse Aide Registry. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification is required. Six months of experience is preferred. Candidates must possess basic computer skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. This position requires continual interaction with pediatric patients, families, visitors, nursing staff, and other hospital departments, along with the physical stamina and ability to safely lift and move objects and people weighing up to 35 pounds. This is an hourly, day shift opportunity supporting the Long-Term Care department at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside.
