The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Birth Certificate Representative ensures that all information required by the NJDOHSS Bureau of Vital Statistics Electronic Birth Certificate program and Paternity Opportunity Program is collected and accurately entered the NJDOHSS EBC software program within the time frame mandated by NJDOHSS regulations.
As Birth Certificate Representative, a typical day might include the following:
- Obtaining information for the proper completion of a Certificate of Live Birth for each infant delivered
- Entering all Birth Certificate information into the electronic Birth Certificate (EBC) computer system and prints a legal Birth Certificate
- Assuring signatures of parents, as mandated by the Department of Health regulations
- Ensuring timely completion and entry of all EBC into the system and transmitting birth certificate data to the Department of Health on a routine basis, in a timely manner

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment. Previous experience in a hospital or medical office setting is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records, physician order entry, and healthcare documentation is also preferred. Part Time from 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday including weekends.
