Ultrasound Technologist – RWJBarnabas Health

Ultrasound Technologists play a vital role in patient care by performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions. This position utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to conduct general, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts imaging while ensuring exceptional patient care, accuracy, and efficiency. The Ultrasound Technologist collaborates closely with radiologists, providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes.

A Typical Day for an Ultrasound Technologist May Include:

  • Performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations for inpatient, outpatient, STAT, and routine cases.
  • Conducting general, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts imaging studies.
  • Reviewing and analyzing ultrasound images to ensure diagnostic quality and accuracy.
  • Providing compassionate patient care while utilizing independent judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Communicating effectively with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Utilizing electronic clinical ordering systems and PACS for image documentation and workflow management.
  • Rotating to imaging off-site locations and the operating room as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring compliance with departmental protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Participating in required hospital education, training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Registered through ARDMS or ARRT and licensed in accordance with State requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) approved course.
  • Successful completion of all required orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional licensure and comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
