SBIRT Educator – RWJBarnabas Health

As an SBIRT Educator, you will help healthcare professionals develop the skills and knowledge needed to identify, intervene, and support individuals impacted by substance use and behavioral health concerns. A Typical Day for an SBIRT Educator May Include:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering educational and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement in clinical and community settings.
- Providing training and presentations on Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), substance use disorders, recovery support services, health promotion, and wellness topics.
- Demonstrating knowledge of healthcare practices, evidence-based interventions, treatment resources, and best clinical practices to support healthcare professionals and interdisciplinary teams.
- Identifying, developing, and maintaining strategic partnerships with healthcare organizations, community agencies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders that promote health education initiatives.
- Facilitating educational groups, workshops, and training programs that are developmentally and culturally appropriate for diverse audiences.
- Conducting outreach efforts to expand awareness of SBIRT services and educational opportunities within healthcare and community settings.
- Tracking, maintaining, and reporting statistics related to trainings, presentations, outreach activities, and program outcomes to meet organizational and grant reporting requirements.
- Assisting with the development of educational curricula, newsletters, training materials, and other program resources.
- Collaborating with clinical leadership and community partners to identify educational needs and implement targeted training solutions.
- Supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives through evaluation of training effectiveness and participant feedback.
- Pursuing ongoing professional development and maintaining certification requirements related to SBIRT education and training.
- Performing other duties as assigned or directed by management.

- Associate degree in Public Health, Healthcare, Education, or a related field is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Healthcare, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Must obtain certification as an SBIRT Trainer through the National SBIRT ATTC training program and pursue ongoing training and education.
- Previous professional healthcare and/or substance use experience preferred.
- Ability to travel to various clinical and community locations as needed to conduct trainings and presentations.
