Sterile Processing Surgical Coordinator -RWJBarnabas Health

At RWJBarnabas Health, the Sterile Processing Surgical Coordinator assumes responsibility for the daily activities in the department in part or in full as directed.  Acts as preceptor for new orientees.  Performs special projects.  Responsibilities include assisting Operating Room managers with count sheets, setting up new trays, assisting with the care cart system and modules.  Excellent organizational and communication skills. Requires the ability to work under very stressful conditions. Pick-up and delivery of patient care equipment and instruments.

A typical day for a Sterile Processing Surgical Coordinator may include:

• Responsible for orientation of new staff members as well as helping and facilitating new hire training.
• This role will be responsible for all competencies initial and ongoing as well as creating ongoing list of due dates for such.
• This incumbent is pivotal in the education of the OR Leadership, CSP staff and CSP Leadership on all regulatory standards, recommendations and compliance,
• This includes documented periodic compliance surveys in the OR, CSP and all units that CSP services,
• This role will help in the development and revision of policies, procedures and best practices in compliance with industry standards,
• Identifies on an ongoing basis any quality concerns within CSP and provides re-education as well as needed process improvements,
• This role will work with the Director in creating and then maintaining yearly modules specifically related to CSP,
• The CSP educator will be involved in all tracking system upgrades, inputting of new processes in said system, data maintenance, tray inventory and end of life items tracking.
• This will include creating reports in the tracking system for quality metrics and coordination with the instrument coordinator on missing instrument reports.

To be considered for this Sterile Processing Surgical Coordinator opportunity:

• High school diploma or equivalent — required
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred;
• 5-10 years experience in Sterile Processing;
• Certified SPD management level experience or equivalent in training and development;
• Knowledge of quality standards and improvements performance techniques and tools, experienced in developing and implementing policies and procedures,
• Must be currently certified in Sterile Processing;
