The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Structural Heart Outpatient APP

Job Description:

  • The nurse practitioner/ physician assistant functions as an independent care provider in collaboration with the medical/surgical staff
  • Their advance practice is characterized by comprehensive health assessments and management of patients with acute and/or chronic health problems in the peri-operative cardiothoracic surgery setting
  • Obtain patient histories and perform physical examination
  • Write consultations, H&Ps, pre-op orders and post-op progress notes as indicated
  • Assess and manage pre- and post-operative conditions as well as common health problems
  • Order and evaluate pertinent diagnostic tests including but not limited to: Radiology, laboratories, echocardiograms and ECG s
  • Prescribe pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological treatments for appropriate medical conditions
  • Educate patients and/or families regarding disease process, medical and surgical intervention and health promotion
  • Document patient teaching
  • Refers and communicates pertinent abnormalities to surgical director/medical specialist
  • Serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff in regards to patient and disease management
  • Facilitate practices that are in compliance with PRO-NJ and JCAHO requirements

Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the state of New Jersey.
  • Current NJ state license CDS and DEA
  • Current BLS and ACLS required
  • Acute care certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac surgery, structural cardiology or general cardiology 

Responsibilities include:

  • Consultations 
  • Post-Op Follow-Up Visits
  • Optimizing patients prior to surgery through referral to specialty providers
  • Managing post-op complications
  • Coordinating with office staff to provide patients an optimal pre- and post-operative experience
