Job Overview:
The Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in preparing, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups including geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal populations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent,
- NJ Board of Pharmacy registration in good standing required
Preferred:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred,
- PTCB certification preferred
- Pharmacy experience preferred,
Scheduling Requirements:
- Per-diem
- Evening Shift
Essential Functions:
- Works with technology related to medication management including automated dispensing cabinets, inventory carousels, repackaging software, and EMR,
- Assists in meeting the hospital mission and vision by promoting patient safety, formulary compliance, cost-effective practice, teamwork, productivity, and positive patient outcomes,
- Responsible for any other assigned tasks based on departmental need,
- Promotes positive relations and actively contributes to a positive work environment,
- Is proficient and complies with regulatory requirements,
- Work performance shall conform to written established hospital policies and procedures,
- Pharmacy technicians may be trained in aseptic technique for preparing IV solutions,
- Responsible for identifying and reporting hazardous environments or safety issues and medical errors to appropriate personnel to support optimal patient care and employee safety,
